About us

James Newton formed Newton Brickworks Limited (NBL) in May 2000, following fifteen years experience in the construction industry.

  • NBL provides bricklaying services to its clients, on either a labour only or labour and material basis, within its area of operation. NBL also have extensive experience of providing combined bricklaying and scaffolding packages in accordance with its client’s individual needs.
  • NBL is a company that prides itself on the service it provides and as a company look to establish long-term working/partnering relationships with its clients. Much of NBL's work is repeat business for existing clients.
  • NBL is proactive in addressing new issues affecting the industry whether it be changes to health and safety legislation, building regulations or employment law.
  • NBL is actively promoting and encouraging its workforce to support the CSCS scheme which will help to educate and improve the quality of tradesman within the construction industry.
  • NBL takes its health and safety responsibilities very seriously and has appointed a health and safety manager to constantly visit sites, audit procedures and train NBL's workforce, see the Health and Safety page for more information.
  • All of NBL's senior management have obtained IOSH health & safety qualifications.
  • Over the past three years the company has formed a strong and capable team of head office personnel, consultants and advisers to manage the continued growth of the business.
  • NBL’s current client bases consists predominately of blue chip national house building developers, although NBL also work for main contractors within the commercial sector of the construction industry.
  • From NBL’s head office in Braintree, at the centre of its operational area, it is able to take advantage of the considerably improved road network in the region to effectively manage its works.
  • NBL’s current area of operation covers most of East Anglia including Essex, Suffolk, South Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Northern Kent, and North, Central, East and South East London.

  • Over the years NBL have established a network of quality tradesman throughout its operational area who are managed by experienced and trusted foreman. At the present time NBL have a work force of approximately 150 people working on 15 sites.
  • NBL currently have a healthy order book and given the Government’s projections for housing demand in the area, NBL are confident that the business will continue to grow steadily over the next 5 years.

May 06 NBL entered Taylor Woodrow Developments 7-a-side tournament at Upton Park and unfortunately got knocked out on sudden death penalies by rivals Harris & Carreford.

Apr 06 Bryant Homes have awarded NBL Partnering Status for 2006.

Jan 06 NBL have secured their first contract with David Wilson Homes - 55 Units in Stevenage.

Jan 06 NBL have recently appointed Haze & Safety to act as their Health and Safety consultants.

Jan 06 All of NBL's work force are now CSCS compliant.

Oct 05 NBL recently completed a 130k refurbishment of a Grade 2 listed building in Witham for Knight Developments Limited.
